Working remotely means I miss out on office Christmas parties, where colleagues celebrate the season together. My husband, Travis, still gets to attend these events, and I sent him off with a playful note written on his chest as a joke.
Travis is a bit of a lightweight when it comes to drinking, so it was all in good fun. We’ve been married for five years, and trust is at the core of our relationship. It started as a lighthearted moment while he was getting ready, and I couldn’t resist writing, “This is my husband—please be nice—M.”
“Micaela,” he laughed as he headed out the door, “I’m just going out for a few drinks. I’ll be back early.”
While he was out, I enjoyed some holiday decorating at home, setting up the Christmas tree and adding festive touches to the living room. Later that night, Travis came home a bit tipsy, and I helped him to bed. I noticed someone had added a playful note in response to mine: “Thanks for the reminder.”
