The Unexpected Visitor in Our Family Moments
Scrolling through Facebook one evening, I noticed someone new frequently liking and commenting on my husband Sam’s posts. Her name didn’t ring any bells, but the familiarity in her comments stood out. One, in particular, read, “Looking good as always!” on a photo of us at dinner. Another comment on our daughter Lily’s birthday photo said, “So glad she liked the wings! I knew they’d be perfect.” That caught my attention.
I hadn’t set out to investigate. Honestly, I was just trying to find a sweet photo from our anniversary party—the one where Lily had frosting all over her face. But the same name kept appearing: Ella.
Curious, I tapped on her profile. Her face was striking, her smile warm, and there was something vaguely familiar about her. Her posts were sparse, but I couldn’t help but notice how often Sam had liked or commented on them. Before I could think too deeply, Lily skipped into the room and saw the screen.
“That’s Ella!” she exclaimed excitedly. “We see her every week with Dad!”
I blinked. “You do?”
“Yeah! On Wednesdays. We get ice cream and feed ducks! But we use the good duck food—not bread—because Ella said bread isn’t healthy for them.”
