I saw something strange in the grass and thought it was just a rope, but when I looked closer, I screamed in horror!

The experience stuck with me, not just because of how rare it was, but because it reminded me of another moment that caught me completely off guard—this time, in a much less pleasant way.

A few weeks earlier, I’d gone out to dinner with a friend at a cozy little spot downtown. We were enjoying our meal and chatting when she suddenly paused, frowning at her plate. “Are those chia seeds?” she asked, peering down at her salad.

We leaned in for a better look. At first, that’s exactly what they resembled—tiny black seeds scattered across the greens. But then we noticed something unsettling: they were moving.

Needless to say, we stopped eating immediately and called over the waiter. The staff was just as surprised as we were and quickly took care of the situation. While it was certainly alarming, we appreciated their prompt response and precautionary steps. To be on the safe side, we later checked in with a doctor, and thankfully, we were both fine.

Still, the incident left a lasting impression. Even now, I can’t look at certain ingredients without a second glance. It’s funny how the smallest things can stay with you—whether it’s a graceful procession of caterpillars or a surprising dinner moment that makes you extra cautious.

Life has a way of offering the unexpected. Sometimes it’s a quiet marvel of nature, and other times it’s a reminder to stay alert. Either way, these moments help us see the world a little differently—and teach us that even the most ordinary scenes can hold surprises.
