Stunned, Emily left the clinic, wandering through a nearby park to savor each step, knowing her freedom to walk might soon fade. That evening, she broke the news to her husband, Tyler, hoping for understanding.
“Tyler, I need to share something serious,” she began, explaining her diagnosis and the fears it brought. But Tyler’s reaction was harsh.
“What, you expect me to push you around in a wheelchair?” he sneered. His words exposed a coldness she hadn’t seen before. He left that night, scribbling only, “Need time to think.”
