Chicago, IL – Immigration authorities have detained a 52-year-old man from Waukegan, Illinois, in connection with a high-profile missing person investigation.

The individual, identified by officials as Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, was first taken into custody in April and charged with multiple offenses, including concealing a body and obstruction of justice. Authorities say the case involves 37-year-old Megan Bos, who was reported missing on March 9. Her family told investigators they last spoke with her in February.

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), human remains were discovered earlier this year in a storage container on Mendoza-Gonzalez’s property. Investigators allege the remains had been there for several weeks.

Following his initial arrest, Mendoza-Gonzalez was released after a court hearing in Lake County — a decision that drew criticism from some officials. On Saturday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers located and re-arrested him at a market in Chicago. He is now in federal custody while legal proceedings continue.
