A familiar face from television’s early golden years has sadly passed away. Lauren Chapin has died at the age of 80 following a long battle with cancer, according to a heartfelt message shared by her son. In his post, he honored her strength and the grace she showed throughout several difficult years of illness.
For generations of viewers, Chapin will always be remembered as Kathy “Kitten” Anderson, the youngest daughter on the beloved family sitcom Father Knows Best. The show became a staple of 1950s television, turning its cast into household names and cementing Chapin’s place in TV history.

Born in Los Angeles in 1945, Chapin entered show business at an early age. She appeared in films and popular anthology programs, including Lux Video Theatre, steadily building experience as a child performer. One of her earliest film appearances was in A Star Is Born, where she shared the screen with the legendary Judy Garland.
