Stacey stood at the microphone, her voice trembling with emotion. “It’s a shame your father isn’t here with us,” she said, her eyes welling up. “But I know he’s watching over his daughter, proud of her today.” Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice from the crowd. “Of course, I am! It’s my daughter’s wedding!”
Stacey turned, shocked to see a man she thought she’d never see again. It was Mark, her past love.
Years ago, Stacey and Tyler had married young and welcomed their daughter, Mary, when they were just 18. Tyler’s mother never approved of their relationship and, when she discovered they had married, she asked Tyler to leave the family home. Stacey and Tyler faced many challenges, but they worked hard, eventually finding stability when they both landed jobs as software developers.

As time went on, Tyler realized the strain his actions had placed on their relationship, but by the time he sought to make amends, Stacey had already found comfort and friendship in Mark, a widower she met through Mary’s school.
