Eventually, Tyler fell ill and passed away. Though Stacey no longer had romantic feelings for him, she grieved the loss of Mary’s father, and together, mother and daughter leaned on each other for support. Mary’s wedding brought some light back into their lives, and Stacey found herself reflecting on how far they had come.
On Mary’s wedding day, Stacey was overcome with emotion, sharing her heartfelt wishes for her daughter and her new son-in-law. Just as she finished her speech, Mark appeared, surprising everyone.
“Of course, I’d be here. It’s my daughter’s wedding,” he said, stepping forward with a warm smile. The crowd looked on as he joined Stacey on the stage, taking the microphone to share his own wishes for the happy couple.
Afterward, Stacey pulled him aside, her eyes brimming with questions. “How are you here? I thought I’d lost you.”
Mark explained that he had to leave for reasons he couldn’t share at the time but had always intended to return. When he learned about Mary’s wedding, he knew he couldn’t stay away.
Stacey, feeling a mix of relief and joy, asked, “So, what happens now?”
Mark smiled, taking her hand. “I’m here to stay, if you’ll have me.”
As they stood together, the past seemed to melt away, and the promise of a new beginning filled the air. The crowd in the wedding hall cheered, celebrating not just Mary and her new husband, but also the rekindling of a love that had never truly faded.
