Jamie Lee Curtis breaks silence after fury over Charlie Kirk comment

In a new interview with Variety, Curtis set the record straight — saying her words were taken out of context. “An excerpt mistranslated what I said, making it sound like I was speaking positively about him, which I wasn’t,” she explained. “I was talking about his faith in God — not his politics.”

Curtis added that today’s polarized world makes it difficult to express nuanced thoughts without being misinterpreted. “You can’t hold two ideas at once anymore,” she said. “I can reject someone’s actions but still acknowledge their humanity. That’s what I was trying to do.”

Whether or not people agree with her, Jamie Lee Curtis’s comments have reignited an important conversation about empathy, faith, and how we react to tragedy in an increasingly divided world.
