Since that initial announcement, updates on Biden’s condition have been rare. His decision to step back from the 2024 presidential race and from frequent public appearances has only deepened public curiosity about his health.
Now, his spokesperson has confirmed that Biden is undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment as part of a structured care plan.
“As part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment. The cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” the statement read.
Biden himself remains optimistic. Earlier this year, he shared that he’s focusing on staying strong and positive during the treatment process.
“It’s all a matter of taking a pill — one particular pill — for the next six weeks and then another one. The prognosis is good. We’re working on everything, and it’s moving along. I feel good,” he said.
Medical experts have weighed in on his diagnosis. Fox News’ senior medical analyst, Dr. Marc Siegel, noted that prostate cancer is often caught early through blood testing but added that Biden’s case, discovered through a physical exam, underscores the importance of regular checkups.
Meanwhile, Dr. William Dahut, Chief Scientific Officer at the American Cancer Society, offered a more cautious perspective, explaining that while bone metastasis generally makes the disease difficult to cure, many patients still live long, fulfilling lives with effective management.
“In general, if cancer has spread to the bones, we don’t consider it curable. However, most patients respond well to initial treatment, and people can live many years with the diagnosis,” Dahut explained.
Biden’s battle with cancer is deeply personal. He has long been a leading voice in the fight against the disease, driven in part by the loss of his son, Beau Biden, to brain cancer in 2015. His administration made cancer research a national priority through the “Cancer Moonshot” initiative — a program he continues to champion even amid his own health challenges.
