Latest Information on Jonathan Ross, the ICE Agent Involved in the Renee Good Shooting

Ross sustained serious injuries, including cuts to his arm and hand that required 33 stitches, according to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. Munoz was later arrested, charged with assaulting a federal officer, and convicted by a federal jury in December 2024.

Fast forward to last week, and Ross, a full-time member of ICE’s ERO Special Response Team in Minneapolis, was involved in another high-profile incident: the fatal shooting of 37-year-old mother Renee Good. The shooting sparked immediate debate, with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem defending Ross’s actions and President Donald Trump calling the officer “lucky to be alive” while criticizing Good.

Local leaders responded sharply. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey issued a forceful warning to ICE, stating:

“To ICE, get the f*** out of Minneapolis. They are not here to cause safety in this city. What they are doing is not to provide safety in America. What they are doing is causing chaos and distrust.”

Regarding the shooting itself, Frey added:

“They are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly, that is bulls**t.”

The revelation of Ross’s prior traumatic encounter adds new context to the recent shooting, highlighting the high-stress environments ICE officers navigate, while fueling further debate about law enforcement tactics, accountability, and public safety in Minneapolis.
