MAGA Senator ‘accidentally’ attacks Melania and Barron Trump

Donald Trump’s tough stance on immigration is gaining momentum in Washington, and Republican lawmakers are taking action. Now, Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio is set to introduce legislation that could shake up the rules on dual citizenship—and potentially impact two people in the White House: Melania and Barron Trump.

On Monday, Moreno announced his Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025, which would require all Americans to declare exclusive allegiance to the United States. Speaking with Fox News, Moreno emphasized the need for loyalty:

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be an American. If you want to be an American—it’s all or nothing. It’s time to end dual citizenship for good.”

Moreno, originally from Colombia, renounced his Colombian citizenship when he became a U.S. citizen at 18. The new bill would give dual citizens one year to choose between U.S. citizenship and their foreign citizenship—or risk losing their American status automatically.

This proposal could directly affect Melania and Barron Trump, who both hold U.S. and Slovenian citizenship. Barron, Donald and Melania’s youngest son, has maintained strong ties to Slovenia, even speaking with a Slovenian accent as a child. Melania herself is the only naturalized First Lady in U.S. history, obtaining citizenship in 2006 through an EB-1 visa reserved for immigrants with extraordinary achievements.

Melania has shared how close Barron is to his Slovenian roots, especially his bond with her late mother, Amalija. During a 2024 interview with Fox News, she reflected:

“Once Barron was born, my mother’s focus was on him. They had a relationship like no other.”

While the legislation sparks debate, it’s unlikely that Melania or Barron would give up U.S. citizenship if required. The bill, however, highlights the growing discussion around loyalty, immigration, and what it means to be American in today’s political climate.
