More than 20 years after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, new footage of the Twin Towers’ collapse has come to light. Kei Sugimoto, who filmed the video, discovered it while sorting through old tapes in his closet.
When the footage was released, many were surprised to see that even after 23 years, previously unseen perspectives of that day are still being uncovered. One Reddit user commented, “It’s unbelievable that new footage is still surfacing after all these years.”
The video, filmed from a rooftop at 64 St. Marks Place in New York City, provides a rare view of the towers collapsing from the north.
The footage shows the towers engulfed in smoke before their eventual collapse, offering what one viewer described as a “unique perspective, different from the south or east views.”
Since its release on July 23, 2023, the video has sparked widespread online discussion. One user reflected, “It makes me wonder how much history is still hidden away in attics or basements, waiting to be found.”
Sugimoto’s decision to share the footage adds a new visual layer to the collective memory of 9/11, reminding us of the lasting impact of an event that forever changed the 21st century.
