A captivating photo is gaining widespread attention online, capturing a rare and breathtaking phenomenon experienced by one man while celebrating the New Year.
Hiker Rhys Pleming chose to ring in January 1 by climbing Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales, with the goal of witnessing the first sunrise of the decade. Little did he know, his adventure would unveil a spectacular and rare sight known as the Broken Spectre.
Not only did Rhys enjoy the sunrise, but he was also treated to the extraordinary visual of a Broken Spectre—a phenomenon where a figure appears to walk through the clouds surrounded by a circular rainbow of light.
This optical illusion occurs when the low sun shines from behind an observer looking into mist from a higher vantage point, casting the observer’s shadow against the mist and creating the illusion of someone appearing in the clouds.
