Bay Area Residents Shocked by Massive Explosion — Initially Mistaken for Earthquake

Hayward residents were shaken to their core today when a sudden, violent explosion ripped through a building in the city, leaving chaos, destruction, and thick plumes of smoke in its wake. At first, many locals assumed the tremor and rumble were the result of an earthquake, but the sight of fire, debris, and twisted metal quickly proved otherwise.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as “apocalyptic.” Homes shook violently, car alarms blared nonstop, and terrified residents spilled into the streets, unsure if more explosions would follow. From above, aerial footage captured the full extent of the destruction: walls collapsed, structural beams bent and twisted, and debris scattered across an entire block, leaving a surreal trail of damage. “It was like something out of a movie,” one neighbor said, recalling the moment the building erupted.
