Instead, Milo pursued a path far from the cameras. He worked as a massage therapist and later became an electrician. He loved working with “real people,” and his parents supported his decision to stay out of acting—at least for a while.
Growing Up With a Movie Icon
As a child, Milo didn’t quite grasp just how famous his father was. That changed when he visited the set of Braveheart and witnessed the intense battle scenes being filmed. He was only six years old at the time and remembers being startled by the sight of lifelike dummies hanging in the background.
“I remember Dad grabbing me and taking me out, saying, ‘It’s not real,’” Milo recalled. That early experience stuck with him, and while he didn’t dive into acting right away, the seed was planted.
Despite being the son of a major star, Milo didn’t go out of his way to mention it to others. “A lot of my friends already know, and they don’t care,” he said. “They’re friends with me because they’re friends with me.”
Stepping Into the Spotlight
Eventually, Milo’s interests began to shift. Inspired by his father’s passion and guided by his encouragement to “do what you love,” Milo decided to try acting professionally.
In 2016, he made his film debut in Hacksaw Ridge, directed by his father. Working on the World War II drama not only gave Milo his first real taste of Hollywood but also allowed him to learn directly from someone he deeply admired.
“It was nice to see him behind the camera,” Milo said. “I learned that you have to be comfortable taking risks and then stick with them. One of the keys in acting is to be vulnerable.”
Following his debut, Milo landed lead roles in All the Devil’s Men (2018) and appeared in other films such as The Tribes of Palos Verdes (2017) alongside Jennifer Garner, and Breaking & Exiting (2018). With each project, he continues to develop his skills and expand his range as an actor.

A Star in the Making
Milo’s resemblance to his father is uncanny—so much so that strangers occasionally stop him to comment. “Sometimes people go, ‘Hey, you look like Mel Gibson!’ And I go, ‘I wish!’” he joked.
With his striking features, piercing eyes, and natural charisma, it’s no surprise that Milo has also explored modeling. But it’s clear that acting is where his heart lies.
Now, with several roles under his belt and more on the horizon, Milo Gibson is steadily making a name for himself. His parents remain supportive, proud, and hands-off—letting their son find his own path, just as they always hoped he would.
“My dad was always a big advocate of doing what you like to do… but do what you love,” Milo shared. “I have a really big passion for acting and I really love doing it.”

Continuing the Legacy
Mel Gibson has had an extraordinary career, from his breakout role in Mad Max to his Oscar-winning work on Braveheart. He’s proven himself as a gifted actor, director, and storyteller—and now, it seems, his son is following a similar trajectory.
What makes this father-son journey even more special is the mutual respect and admiration between them. While Milo is determined to create his own identity in Hollywood, he doesn’t shy away from the lessons and legacy passed down by his father.
At just 32 years old, Milo Gibson is only getting started. With his talent, humility, and strong family values, he has all the tools to thrive—not just as Mel Gibson’s son, but as a rising star in his own right.
We look forward to seeing more of Milo’s work in the years ahead. If his early roles are any indication, he’s set to become a familiar and respected face in Hollywood.
