Melania Trump is reportedly planning a major move that could reshape her life—and the narrative around her second term as First Lady. Sources suggest the former First Lady is considering leaving the White House for good, returning to New York City to focus on her personal ventures and lifestyle brand ambitions.
While she and Donald Trump recently celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary, reports have long hinted that the couple leads largely separate lives. Author Michael Wolff previously claimed Melania “hates” her husband, noting that the couple maintains separate bedrooms at the White House and spends very little time together.

“She doesn’t live with him. Whenever she was at the White House or Mar-a-Lago, it’s like she’s a guest,” Wolff said in a podcast interview last year. Instead, Melania has split her time between Washington, D.C., Florida, and New York, making clear during her second term that her schedule would be “different from the first.”
New York Beckons
According to journalist Rob Shuter, Melania views Washington as temporary and is quietly planning to make New York her permanent base. “D.C. was always temporary in her mind,” a source told Shuter, adding, “Melania is a New York woman.” She continues to travel to Florida to fulfill obligations and spend time with family, but her heart—and business ambitions—are drawing her north.
