MIL Told Me to Wear a Wig at the Wedding at Her Family Wedding After My Chemo – But My Husband Had Other Plans

Family gatherings can bring out the best and worst in people. For me, last weekend’s wedding was supposed to be a joyful celebration. Instead, it became a turning point—a moment when my husband showed the world what true love, loyalty, and courage look like.

A Year of Struggle

I’m Julia, 35, married to Caleb, 38. We’ve been together nearly a decade, and through every challenge, he has been my anchor. This past year, when I faced the hardest battle of my life—cancer—he never left my side.

Chemo took its toll. My long brown hair fell out, my lashes disappeared, and my reflection became almost unrecognizable. But Caleb never wavered. When I began losing my hair, he shaved his own head and kissed mine, whispering, “You’re still beautiful. You’re still mine.”

The Cruel Request

Unfortunately, not everyone shared his compassion. A week before a family wedding, my mother-in-law, Carol, stopped by with what she called a “favor.”

She handed me a wig and said softly, “There will be photos and family there… I think this would make things more comfortable.”
