Life can flip upside down in an instant. One tiny, unexpected moment can reveal truths you never saw coming. For me, that moment came on a quiet Saturday morning when my five-year-old daughter, Lily, clomped into the kitchen wearing my wife’s high heels, lipstick smeared across her cheeks.
“Look, Daddy! I look just like Mommy when she goes to her other house!” Lily said, spinning in place.
My coffee froze mid-sip. “Other house?” I echoed.
“Yes! The one with the pink couch,” she said cheerfully. “Mommy said I can go there when I’m older. The man there doesn’t know about me yet.”
My heart sank. The man? Julia? My mind raced.
Over the next days, small things added up: unexplained errands, vague excuses, faint traces of unfamiliar cologne. And then came the black dress, the extra makeup, the mysterious “client dinner.” Something was off.
