Ellie explained through her tears, “Yesterday, when Dad picked me up from school, Miss Allen told me to wait by the door while she talked to Dad. I didn’t hear everything, but I did hear her say she’ll be a better mom to me… and Dad laughed.”
Dani’s worst fears were confirmed: Nathan was having an affair. That night, after Ellie was asleep, Dani confronted Nathan. “So, Miss Allen seems really good with Ellie,” she began.
Nathan’s face lit up, thinking Dani was praising the teacher. “I knew Ellie liked her…”
“Enough for Miss Allen to be her new mom?” Dani interrupted. “What’s going on, Nathan? Don’t lie to me.”
Caught off guard, Nathan confessed to the affair with Ellie’s teacher and admitted to other infidelities that had led them to relocate in the first place.
Realizing her marriage was beyond saving, Dani decided to protect Ellie from the fallout. She transferred her daughter to a new school and filed for divorce. Dani moved into a new home, allowing Nathan to visit Ellie as he wished, but knowing she had made the right choice for herself and her daughter.
