The Signs I Overlooked

Looking back, the clues were always there. My husband, Jason, often placed his friendships above our relationship. During our dating years, I dismissed it as youthful behavior, hoping that marriage would encourage growth and responsibility.

At first, it seemed like I was right. Jason spoke passionately about our future, filled with promises of stability and partnership. I wanted to believe in his words so deeply that I ignored the doubts lingering at the edges.

A Dream Turned Reality

When I became pregnant, Jason appeared genuinely excited. He helped prepare the nursery, assembled the crib, and spoke sweetly to my growing belly about how he couldn’t wait to become a father. For a time, I felt reassured.

But reality shifted quickly. At 37 weeks, complications required an emergency C-section. Our daughter, Emma, was born healthy, but recovery was difficult. I needed both rest and support more than ever before.

Life After Surgery

Those first weeks were exhausting. Between round-the-clock feedings, sleepless nights, and post-surgery pain, I struggled to keep up. Jason pitched in occasionally, but often retreated when things became overwhelming.
