The Anniversary That Changed Everything

On the morning of our tenth wedding anniversary, I woke early with one goal in mind: to make the day unforgettable. The house was still wrapped in the quiet of dawn. I slipped from bed so as not to wake my husband, Sam, or our son, Cody.

In the kitchen, I began preparing breakfast—eggs, toast, and bacon strips carefully shaped into the number ten. It was a small gesture, maybe even silly, but to me, love was built on those little things.

Soon, Sam came downstairs, his hair messy, his T-shirt on inside out. Cody trailed sleepily behind him. Sam kissed my forehead, wished me a happy anniversary, and promised me a surprise for the evening. His blue eyes twinkled, just like they had since the day we met years ago. The morning felt perfect, full of warmth, laughter, and the smell of coffee.
