“Let’s take a DNA test,” he said firmly.
Reluctantly, I agreed, knowing it was the only way to put an end to the accusations. When the results arrived, they confirmed what I already knew—Hans was, without a doubt, the father of our child.
While I expected Georgia to acknowledge her mistake, she instead dismissed the results. “This could be wrong,” she muttered, unwilling to accept the truth.
Hans, frustrated but calm, held the paper up. “Mom, here’s the proof. I am the father. Can we move past this now?”
But then, something unexpected happened. Manny, who had been closely examining the results, suddenly looked puzzled.
“Wait a second,” he said slowly. “Hans, your blood type is B+?”
Hans nodded, confused. “Yes, why?”
Manny’s expression darkened. “That’s not possible. Both Georgia and I have O+ blood. Two O+ parents can’t have a B+ child.”
A heavy silence fell over the room. Georgia’s face paled, and she avoided eye contact.
“What does this mean, Georgia?” Manny asked, his voice unsteady.
After a long pause, Georgia finally admitted the truth. “I… I had an affair,” she confessed. “Hans isn’t your biological son.”
The revelation sent shockwaves through the room. Hans, who had spent his whole life believing Manny was his father, was devastated. The irony of Georgia accusing me of dishonesty while hiding such a significant truth was undeniable.
Tears filled Georgia’s eyes as she pleaded for forgiveness, but the damage had been done. Manny, visibly shaken, stood up and quietly left the room. Georgia followed, attempting to explain, but the weight of her secret had shattered the family dynamic.
Hans turned to me, his voice soft yet filled with emotion. “Are you okay?”
I nodded, though the day had taken an emotional toll on both of us. “It’s a lot to take in,” I admitted.
Hans took a deep breath and gently embraced me. “No matter what, we have each other. That’s what matters.”
From that moment on, we chose to distance ourselves from the turmoil. The revelation about Georgia’s past led to significant changes in the family, but we focused on what truly mattered—our happiness and the well-being of our child. Despite the challenges, we found peace and moved forward, stronger than before.
As for Georgia, she learned a valuable lesson—secrets have a way of coming to light, no matter how deeply they are buried.
