My Neighbor Built a Fence on My Land While I Was Away — What I Did to It Made Him Beg for Mercy

He insisted, but I reminded him the agreement was with the former owners. His face flushed, frustration evident as he stormed off.

Weeks of arguments followed. Seth wanted privacy for his garden parties, but I had purchased this home to enjoy the view of the sky and trees—not stare at wooden planks.

Then came our family vacation. A week at the beach with Dwight and Mitch, filled with sandcastles and laughter. But when we returned, horror awaited.

The fence was massive, just one foot from my windows. My boys’ excited faces fell. The view of trees and sky, gone.

I had to act—and fast. Legal routes would take too long.

That night, I hatched a clever plan. I went to the pet store and purchased the strongest animal attractant spray available. At home, under the cover of darkness, I coated Seth’s fence.

Within days, wildlife noticed. Stray dogs, raccoons, and even a moose marked the fence repeatedly. I couldn’t help but chuckle each time I saw the mess. Seth’s frustration grew, but he didn’t remove the fence—he cleaned it, day after day.

Neighbors soon noticed the smell. Seth tried every cleaning product imaginable, yet the wildlife kept returning. Finally, one morning, I watched as a team of workers dismantled the fence. Victory.

I woke the boys. “Look outside!”

Their cheers filled the house. The view was back, the trees visible, and our home restored.

Later, Seth approached. “Kendall, I apologize. I shouldn’t have built that fence without your consent. I’ve learned my lesson. I’ll respect your property from now on.”

“Apology accepted,” I said with a smile. Pride swelled in me—I had fought for myself and my children, and justice prevailed.

Sometimes life forces you to think creatively to solve problems. And in this case, a little ingenuity taught a neighbor an important lesson.
