Walking into the office, I expected another ordinary day, but then I saw him — the man who had destroyed my life. My chest tightened, and memories flooded back. I couldn’t stay in the same room with him.
At home, I dragged myself out of bed, overwhelmed by guilt as I saw Sophie in the kitchen, cleaning up after me. I asked if she needed a ride, but she barely acknowledged me, heading out with my mom instead.
After a brief message from Mom about Sophie’s debate, I headed to work. There, my boss introduced Mark, our new hire — and I froze. It was him. My anger exploded. Mark tried to apologize, but I couldn’t bear it. I stormed out.
