Man Paints His Home Pink, Neighbors Are Unhappy, But There’s Nothing They Can Do
They say the way you decorate your home can reveal a lot about who you are. The homes on Mountain View Street in Pflugerville, Texas, once blended in with their traditional white, beige, and gray facades. But everything changed when Emilio Rodriguez moved in.
Emilio’s life has been marked by significant challenges. After surviving a severe car accident at age four, he was left paralyzed from the waist down and has undergone numerous surgeries throughout his life. Now wheelchair-bound, Emilio has embraced a unique way to express himself in his new home.
Despite the difficulties he’s faced, Emilio has found joy and comfort in the color pink. During his medical treatments, he discovered that pink has a calming, uplifting effect on him. So, when he purchased his dream home in Pflugerville two years ago, he decided to paint it entirely in a vibrant shade of pink inspired by the bright colors of his tattoos.
Emilio’s vision wasn’t just a touch of pink here and there—he went all out, covering the entire house in a bold Pepto-Bismol-pink. He aimed for a “wet slime” look, starting with the back of the house and then continuing with the front.
Not stopping there, Emilio plans to enhance his pink paradise further. He’s considering adding a pink-tiled driveway, pink spotlights in the yard, and even painting his wheelchair to match.
