Other Democratic leaders — including Representatives LaMonica McIver, Bonnie Watson Coleman, and Rob Menendez Jr. — were also present at the protest.

In response, Ocasio‑Cortez posted a video on Instagram in which she strongly defended her colleagues and warned that any mistreatment of elected officials would not go unnoticed. “If you lay a finger on Representative Coleman or any of the other members present, there’s going to be a serious issue,” she said.
