Paris Jackson: Honoring Her Father’s Legacy While Forging Her Own Path
“Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine, and I love him so much.” These were the touching words spoken by an 11-year-old Paris Jackson at the memorial for her father, the legendary Michael Jackson.
Losing a parent at a young age is never easy. For Paris and her brothers, their father’s passing meant stepping into a spotlight he had always tried to shield them from. The public’s curiosity about the children of the King of Pop only grew, making privacy a rare luxury.
Following his passing, Paris and her siblings were placed under the care of their grandmother, Katherine Jackson. She remained with her grandmother until she turned 19, eventually moving into her father’s private studio at the family’s Los Angeles compound. She transformed the space into a cozy, dorm-style sanctuary of her own.
Now 23, Paris has begun to share more of her personal journey. In a YouTube interview with supermodel Naomi Campbell, she spoke about her upbringing, her modeling career, and her debut indie-folk album, Wilted. The album, an emotional exploration of love and loss, reflects the musical influence of her late father.
“My dad made sure we were cultured and educated,” Paris said. “He wasn’t about just glitz and glam. He wanted us to see the world—everything from third-world countries to the wealthiest places.” Despite his global fame, Michael Jackson was deeply committed to teaching his children the value of hard work. “If we wanted five toys, we had to read five books,” she recalled. “It was always about earning things.”
