Henry Griffith was raised by his mother, Edith, after his father passed away when he was just four years old. Edith had him later in life, but her love was boundless. As time passed, Courtney’s attitude toward Edith hardened. With less need for her help, she began to criticize Edith more—her habits, her age, and her limitations. Now in a wheelchair, Edith found herself being called a burden. Courtney hinted that a nursing home might be the best option.

Henry initially resisted. But after Courtney became pregnant again and experienced health issues, she blamed Edith for her discomfort, claiming it was related to the food Edith had prepared—even though Edith hadn’t cooked in weeks. Henry was unsure, but Courtney’s fears about their unborn child made him second-guess everything.
