A Life-Changing Moment
Behind the scenes, Kirk was wrestling with an internal conflict: was Hollywood really where he belonged?
Growing up, he wasn’t religious at all — not even a little.
“As a teen, I would’ve called myself an atheist,” he said.
But everything shifted the day he met a girl he liked who invited him to her church. He went for her — not for faith — but that visit changed the direction of his life completely.
His newfound beliefs began influencing his work, his mindset, and the way he saw the entertainment world. Producers worried he was becoming “too different.” Co-stars noticed the shift. But Kirk wasn’t backing down — his priorities had changed.
Disillusioned With Hollywood
As he grew older, Kirk found himself increasingly uncomfortable with what he described as the “darkness” behind Hollywood’s shiny image.
Stories of abuse, pressure, and corruption reinforced his growing feeling that this world wasn’t meant for him. He believed the industry ran on power and ego — everything he was trying to step away from.
A New Life, A New Purpose
At only 20, Kirk married his Growing Pains co-star Chelsea Noble, and together they decided to build a different life — one rooted in family, faith, and purpose.
They have six children, four of whom are adopted. Adoption is deeply personal to them — Chelsea herself was adopted, and the couple has always made sure their kids knew their stories and had the chance to reconnect with their biological families.
Leaving Hollywood… And California
In 2021, Kirk shared that he wasn’t just done with Hollywood — he was ready to leave California entirely. After asking fans for relocation suggestions, the top answers were Tennessee, Texas, and Florida.
Ultimately, he chose Tennessee, where three of his children already lived. He loved the slower pace, the strong community values, and the “freedom mindset” he felt had disappeared from California.
Tennessee also allowed him to stay close to family — which meant the world to him when he became a grandfather in 2024. He proudly shared the arrival of his granddaughter, Maya Jeanne, saying:
“Our hearts are filled to overflowing.”
Still Creating, Still Inspiring
Although he stepped away from mainstream Hollywood, Kirk didn’t quit storytelling. In 2022, he released Lifemark, a film celebrating adoption — a topic especially close to his heart.
Today, he continues to follow his passions, focus on his family, and live a life shaped by purpose rather than fame. And fans who grew up watching him love seeing how far he’s come.
