Tensions Rise as Russia Reacts to Trump’s Threat

Amid the whirlwind of headlines about Donald Trump’s obsession with Greenland, the perspectives of other global superpowers have largely taken a backseat.

Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to make Greenland—a Danish territory—part of the United States, despite resistance from Denmark, NATO allies, and critics within the U.S. political sphere.

Since returning to the White House last January, the 79-year-old former president has escalated his push for annexation, claiming Greenland’s strategic importance in countering Russia and China. Last week, Trump warned:

“Countries have to have ownership and you defend ownership, you don’t defend leases. And we’ll have to defend Greenland. We will do it ‘the easy way’ or ‘the hard way.’”
