Willie Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco and a seasoned Democratic strategist, offers a different perspective. Brown, who has closely followed Harris’s career, believes the campaign’s challenges stemmed from a misreading of the political landscape. He suggests that Harris’s team could have taken lessons from past elections, particularly in understanding the complexities of running a historic candidacy.
“They needed to ask the most important question—what factors have influenced past elections, and how can we navigate them?” Brown said. “It’s not just about history being on your side; it’s about building a campaign that connects with voters and overcomes challenges.”
