“Nanny” Fox, 68, was a dedicated member of the family farm. She worked alongside her husband and found joy in evenings spent on the porch, overlooking the land they nurtured together. She passed away two days after the accident, surrounded by loved ones.
In response to the incident, the Flinn family has launched the “Maverick Minute” safety initiative. The campaign encourages farmers to take 60 seconds to check their surroundings before using any machinery—an effort aimed at preventing similar accidents in the future.
Indiana State Fire Marshal Steve Jones is expected to attend Maverick’s funeral, set for June 30 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, to honor the family’s deep ties to public service.
While the loss is immeasurable, the Flinn family is choosing to move forward with purpose. “We’re going to continue on in his honor,” said Zach Flinn. “We’re going to keep farming. We’re going to make sure this never happens again.”
Through their strength and commitment to safety, the family hopes Maverick’s memory will serve as a lasting reminder of the importance of community and care.
