What began as a romantic honeymoon in the serene hills of Meghalaya has taken a tragic and unexpected turn, resulting in a high-profile investigation involving multiple individuals and a case that continues to draw national attention.
Just weeks ago, Sonam Raghuvanshi and her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, appeared to be starting a joyful new life together. The newlyweds, based in Indore, had traveled to Meghalaya for what friends and family believed would be a celebratory trip. But behind the happy photos and well-wishes was a far more troubling story that has now led to a full-scale police investigation.
Raja’s body was discovered in a forested area of Meghalaya, with early reports indicating that he suffered fatal head injuries. Nearby, authorities recovered a sharp weapon believed to be linked to the incident.
The investigation took a surprising turn when Sonam was located in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, where she contacted her family and voluntarily approached police. She is now in police custody and has been transported to Shillong for further questioning.
Authorities believe the incident was not spontaneous but may have involved careful planning. Several other individuals have been detained in connection with the case, including Raj Kushwaha—identified as an acquaintance of Sonam—and three others: Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand. All are reportedly in their twenties and have no prior criminal records, according to police.
