Trump finally responds to Mamdani’s election-night jabs

The political temperature is already rising after President Donald Trump responded sharply to newly elected New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s victory speech — setting the stage for what could become one of the most talked-about rivalries in U.S. politics.

On election night in Brooklyn, the energy was electric. Supporters packed the venue as 34-year-old Mamdani, the first Muslim and first South Asian mayor in New York City’s history, delivered a passionate and history-making address.

New York will remain a city of immigrants, built by immigrants, powered by immigrants — and as of tonight, led by an immigrant,” Mamdani declared to roaring cheers. Then came the line that instantly went viral:
Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you — turn the volume up!

The direct call-out spread across social media within minutes, drawing reactions from every corner of the political world. By Wednesday, Trump had issued his response during an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier, making it clear that he wasn’t amused.

Trump labeled Mamdani’s comments “angry and dangerous,” saying, “He has to be a little more respectful of Washington, because if he’s not, he doesn’t have a chance of succeeding.”
