Trump finally responds to Mamdani’s election-night jabs

This isn’t the first time the two have clashed. Throughout the campaign, Trump had criticized Mamdani, calling him a “communist” — despite Mamdani describing himself as a democratic socialist. Trump even hinted that a Mamdani-led city could face limited federal funding, warning that New York would only receive “the minimum required.”

But Trump didn’t stop there. Later that same day, speaking at a business event in Miami, he turned his attention to another frequent political rival — California Governor Gavin Newsom — introducing a new nickname that instantly made headlines.
Maybe that should be his nickname — Slimy. Slimy Newscum, right?” Trump said, pausing as the crowd erupted in laughter.

Newsom’s quick reply on X (formerly Twitter) was short but cutting: “You lost.

As for Mamdani, he hasn’t directly responded to Trump’s remarks — at least not yet. But his victory speech made one thing clear: he’s not afraid to challenge power, even on a national stage.

Trump’s response, meanwhile, shows he’s not backing down either. With both men standing firm in their convictions, this emerging feud could reshape not only New York’s political landscape but also the national conversation heading into the next election cycle.
