But Trump didn’t stop there. Later that same day, speaking at a business event in Miami, he turned his attention to another frequent political rival — California Governor Gavin Newsom — introducing a new nickname that instantly made headlines.
“Maybe that should be his nickname — Slimy. Slimy Newscum, right?” Trump said, pausing as the crowd erupted in laughter.
Newsom’s quick reply on X (formerly Twitter) was short but cutting: “You lost.”
As for Mamdani, he hasn’t directly responded to Trump’s remarks — at least not yet. But his victory speech made one thing clear: he’s not afraid to challenge power, even on a national stage.
