During a recent televised segment in Iran, a senior adviser to the country’s Supreme Leader made a lighthearted but controversial remark referencing former U.S. President Donald Trump, sparking media attention and renewed discussion about the tone of international rhetoric.
The comment, made by Mohammad-Javad Larijani, touched on Iran’s drone technology and referenced the former president’s well-known Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago. While delivered with a smile and followed by the qualifier, “Of course, we fight like men,” the comment quickly made headlines across the U.S.
In a Fox News interview that aired shortly after, Trump was asked about the remark by correspondent Peter Doocy. Taking the moment in stride, the former president responded with his trademark humor. “It’s been a long time—maybe around seven years old—since I’ve taken a sunbath,” he said. “I’m not very interested in it.”
Pressed further on whether he saw the remark as a serious threat, Trump replied, “I suppose it’s a threat. In reality, I’m positive it poses no threat—but it might.” His measured tone suggested he wasn’t overly concerned, despite the attention the clip had generated.
