Washington in Turmoil: Epstein Files, Trump’s Putin Comments, and Tensions in Texas Politics

The political storm in Washington shows no signs of slowing. From disputes over the release of the Epstein files, to former President Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about Russia and Ukraine, and even dramatic scenes in the Texas State House — the week has been filled with explosive developments.

DOJ Faces Backlash Over Epstein Files

The Department of Justice (DOJ) was expected to deliver the full set of Epstein-related documents to the House Oversight Committee. Instead, officials announced they would provide selected documents in stages.

Ranking Member Robert Garcia (D-CA) blasted the decision, calling it a cover-up:

“Releasing the Epstein files in batches just continues this White House cover up. The American people will not accept anything short of the full, unredacted Epstein files.”

At the same time, Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) claimed that former Attorney General Bill Barr testified he had never seen evidence tying Donald Trump to Epstein. Garcia quickly pushed back, arguing Comer was misleading the public and demanding the release of the full transcript of Barr’s testimony.
