My daughter is fourteen. A few months ago, she started spending time with a boy from her class named Noah. From the start, he gave us no reason to worry. He was polite without trying too hard. Respectful in a way that felt natural, not rehearsed. He said thank you. He offered to help. He looked adults in the eye.

On paper, he was exactly the kind of kid parents hope their child brings home.
