Rachel, a new mother from Tennessee, recently celebrated the birth of her son on February 17th. She works as a cashier at the Celina 52 Truck Stop, where her employers shared a congratulatory post on Facebook, featuring a photo of Rachel, her fiancé Paul Buckman, and their newborn son, Cash Jamal Buckman. The post announced, “Congratulations to our cashier Rachel and her fiancé Paul Buckman on their baby Cash Jamal Buckman, born on Saturday at 6:18 pm.”
The post sparked attention and controversy because Rachel and Paul are both white, while their baby has darker skin. This led to a barrage of negative comments and accusations of infidelity under the post. In response, the truck stop added a clarification post explaining, “Yes, Paul is the father. Rachel has African American DNA, which can skip generations and cause a child to be born with darker skin.”
They also mentioned the possibility of jaundice and asked for kindness from the community. Despite this, some continued to mock the couple with comments suggesting the need for a DNA test and questioning the baby’s paternity.
Disturbed by the ongoing slander, Rachel shared her ancestry test results in a follow-up post, writing, “For the haters saying that I don’t have black DNA, maybe this will clear it up straight from my ancestry DNA results. NOW STOP slandering mine and my fiancé Paul Buckman’s name. He IS the father of Lil Cash.
