Donald Trump regrets never dating Princess Diana

Over the years, former U.S. President Donald Trump has made headlines for his high-profile relationships and bold public statements. But one name that stands out among the women he’s spoken about is none other than Princess Diana.

Trump, who has been married three times—to Ivana Trump, Marla Maples, and currently Melania Trump—reportedly once had a strong interest in the late Princess of Wales. Following her divorce from Prince Charles, Diana became a global icon, and according to several media sources, she caught Trump’s attention in a unique way.

In his 1997 book The Art of the Comeback, Trump wrote that he regretted never having had the chance to court Princess Diana. “I met her on a number of occasions,” he said. “She lit up the room with her charm, her presence. She was a genuine princess—a dream lady.”

Reports from British media, including The Daily Mail and The Sunday Times, recount that Trump may have attempted to win her over by sending lavish bouquets of flowers to her home at Kensington Palace. According to journalist Selina Scott, a friend of Diana’s, the Princess found the attention uncomfortable.

“Trump clearly saw Diana as the ultimate trophy wife,” Scott wrote. She recalled Diana once asking, “What am I going to do? He gives me the creeps,” to which Scott advised her to discard the flowers—something Diana reportedly found amusing.
