The legendary painting Prince of Peace by Akiane Kramarik, created when she was just 8, has finally resurfaced after 16 years of mystery, theft, and misplacement. Now 28, Akiane—best-selling author, philanthropist, and world-traveling artist—shared the story behind the masterpiece that captivated millions worldwide.
From a very young age, Akiane’s art was inseparable from her spiritual visions. Despite growing up in a non-religious household in Idaho, she began describing God’s presence and messages in vivid detail. “I can hear His voice. His voice is quiet and beautiful,” Akiane explained in a childhood interview. Her parents, both without strong religious backgrounds, were astonished at their daughter’s spiritual insight.
The inspiration for Prince of Peace came from a vision Akiane had since preschool. Unable to convey it in words, she painted it, using a tall carpenter who appeared at her family’s door as her model for Jesus.
