Colleen and Ray brought home a young boy, Ben, who they found nursing a baby the next day. This discovery led to revelations that changed their lives forever.
Ben, who had been quiet since arriving, ate his meal quickly and returned to his room. Concerned, Colleen and Ray followed and found him feeding a baby.
“Whose baby is that?” Colleen asked.
“She’s my sister,” Ben said nervously. He explained she was a new foster at his old home and he couldn’t leave her because his foster parents, the Franklins, were not kind.
Colleen suggested calling Mrs. Campbell, the foster coordinator, but Ben protested, fearing for the baby’s safety. He revealed his foster home was not safe.
Ray comforted Ben. “You don’t have to be afraid. We’ll help you.”
They decided to keep the baby safe and contacted Alana, a DCFS worker. Alana listened to Ben’s story and believed him. She temporarily authorized Colleen and Ray as the baby’s foster parents.
The situation remained quiet until Mrs. Campbell called, inquiring about Ben’s foster parents. Colleen deflected, but later feared Mrs. Campbell knew something.
