Following the incident, community activists visited the East Windsor location and engaged in a constructive discussion with restaurant manager Mark Smith. According to PowerUp-Manchester founder Keren Prescott, the conversation was positive, and Smith expressed appreciation for different perspectives, noting that people from diverse backgrounds may view things differently.
Smith also mentioned that the item had been part of the restaurant’s décor for over two decades without prior concerns. Prescott praised the openness shown during their visit.
In response to broader concerns raised on social media, some have called for a review of decorations across Cracker Barrel’s locations. In a statement to Fox News, the company reiterated: “We work hard to create a culture of hospitality that’s welcoming, respectful, and inclusive to everyone who walks through our doors. While some of our historic décor reflects earlier times, our commitment to inclusivity is firmly rooted in today’s values.”
Cracker Barrel also thanked the customer who brought the issue to their attention, allowing them to take corrective action.
