Kash Patel Announces Dozens MS 13, Other Gang Members Arrested

FBI Director Kash Patel has announced a significant operation aimed at enhancing public safety, resulting in the arrest of multiple gang members, including individuals linked to the MS-13 group. The announcement was made on Monday through Patel’s social media account, where he shared details of the successful operation carried out by the FBI’s Virginia Homeland Security Taskforce.

Patel stated, “Today, the FBI’s Virginia Homeland Security Taskforce arrested 39 individuals, including members of MS-13 and other groups, as part of our ongoing mission to uphold the law. I extend my gratitude to all our partners for their commitment and dedication in executing this critical mission.”

This operation coincided with a joint announcement from the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) regarding the capture of a high-profile MS-13 leader, David Alejandro Orellana-Aleman. The 27-year-old was apprehended in Hyattsville, Maryland, on February 27. Orellana-Aleman had been known for his extensive involvement in organized crime activities across various regions. Authorities have highlighted his arrest as a crucial step in efforts to enhance community safety and combat transnational crime.

Matthew Elliston, Acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, emphasized the importance of this arrest. “The apprehension of David Alejandro Orellana-Aleman represents a significant achievement in disrupting criminal activities,” Elliston said. “This demonstrates the essential collaboration between ICE and the FBI in safeguarding our communities.”

FBI Baltimore Special Agent in Charge William J. DelBagno also reinforced the positive impact of the arrest, particularly in Maryland. “This operation reflects the effectiveness of collaborative law enforcement efforts in addressing public safety concerns,” DelBagno said.
