Still, I was touched when he suggested celebrating my birthday at an upscale restaurant with my parents.
The evening started beautifully—the ambiance, the food, and the laughter all felt perfect. But as the night went on, Henry grew quieter. I brushed it off until the bill arrived.
Henry glanced at it and, with a calm smile, turned to me. “I didn’t bring my wallet. Thought you’d want to pay.”
