People are coming out as ‘Berrisexual’

More People Are Identifying as “Berrisexual” — Here’s What the Term Means

A fresh identity label is starting to show up across online LGBTQ+ spaces, from Reddit discussions to Tumblr communities and community-run glossaries. The word is berrisexual, and while it’s still relatively new, it’s resonating with people who feel the usual sexuality labels don’t fully reflect how their attraction actually works.

What Does “Berrisexual” Mean?

Berrisexual generally describes someone who is mostly attracted to women, feminine-aligned genders, and androgynous people, but who may occasionally—sometimes rarely or unpredictably—feel attraction toward men or masculine-aligned genders.

In other words, it’s a label for people whose attraction is strongly tilted in one direction, without being absolute. For many, that “mostly, but not always” experience can be hard to explain using broader terms like bisexual, lesbian, pansexual, or queer.

Why This Label Is Getting Attention Online

Sexual identity conversations have become more detailed as more people connect through digital communities. In smaller online circles, individuals often compare experiences and realize they share patterns that don’t fit neatly into traditional categories.
