Candace Cameron Bure and her husband, former NHL star Valeri Bure, have been married for nearly 30 years. Their enduring relationship began when Candace was just 18, and over the years, they’ve built a family and life together in Canada with their three children. But even the strongest relationships can go through difficult times, and recently, Candace shared a deeply personal story about a rough season they experienced—and how their son played a surprising and pivotal role in helping them reconnect.
Candace rose to fame playing DJ Tanner on Full House, and it was through the show that she met her future husband. In 1994, during a charity hockey game attended by Full House cast members, Candace first noticed Valeri on the ice. Thanks to her co-star Dave Coulier, the two were introduced—and they quickly hit it off. “We hit it off,” Candace once recalled, laughing, adding that Valeri had learned English in part by watching Full House.
The couple married in 1996, and soon welcomed their children: Natasha, Lev, and Maksim. Over the years, Candace and Valeri have supported one another through very different careers, always prioritizing time together as a couple and as a family.
However, as Candace revealed in a recent episode of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast, their relationship was tested just before the global pandemic. She shared that in 2020, they went through what she described as a “really rough season,” and for a time, they weren’t sure if they would make it through.
