Andy shared that Ian passed away at Highgrove early on Wednesday morning. He fondly remembered Ian as “always a lot of fun, but as wild as a hawk when he was young.”
Ian served as the esteemed Master of the Beaufort Hunt for 34 years, being highly regarded in the hunting community.
The Beaufort Hunt honored their former mentor on Instagram, expressing their love and condolences to his family and friends. They stated that Ian gave them 34 years of excellent leadership before passing away quietly this week.
Many in the hunting community held him in high regard as ‘Captain,’ appreciating his welcoming nature, helpfulness, and progressive advice.
Those fortunate to spend time with Ian, hearing about his extraordinary life in the army and as a hunter, will cherish those memories forever. Ian had a sharp sense of humor.
