On September 17, local police responded to a welfare check at a home on South Main Street after concerns were raised about the family. Upon arrival around 11:20 a.m., officers discovered 32-year-old Rebecca Hughes and her daughters—Evalynn, 8, Allison, 6, and Amelia Newell, 5—had tragically passed away.
The Indiana State Police quickly took over the investigation, and while autopsies are being conducted, authorities have not yet released any findings, including pending toxicology results. However, they have reassured the public that there is no threat to the community.
